Americans don’t read magazines or newspapers like they used to. Still, a major milestone was just reached in November, as National Review turned 70. Founder William F. Buckley, Jr., seen as a major conservative influencer of the 1950s, wanted to “find a forum from which to express my dissent from common political and cultural positions and to make it possible for others who shared my views to do the same thing.” Published 12 times per year, the conservative periodical continues to be a source for news, commentary, and opinion. National Review’s website features analysis on major political and cultural issues plus daily slideshows, podcasts, and videos.
