Dear Representative Carter,

On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) with over 2 million members nationwide, I am writing to express our strong support for the Healthcare Freedom and Choice Act (HR 379).

As the cost of living continues to climb and many older Americans face difficult financial decisions, affordable health care options are more essential than ever. This legislation, which reinstates access to short-term, limited-duration insurance (STLDI) plans for up to 36 months, represents a critical step toward restoring personal choice and health care flexibility for individuals who need it most.

Far too many seniors, especially those who retire early, are between jobs, or are not yet eligible for Medicare, have found themselves without viable health coverage. The Biden administration’s decision to limit STLDI access to just four months was not only misguided, but damaging, reducing options and driving up costs.

AMAC Action believes that Americans should be free to choose the health care coverage that best suits their needs, not be forced into one-size-fits-all plans that are unaffordable or inaccessible. Your legislation helps realign federal policy with principles our members support – free markets, limited government, and personal responsibility.

Thank you for championing this important cause for seniors and all Americans currently struggling to secure affordable health coverage. AMAC Action looks forward to helping to move your legislation forward in the 119th Congress.

Sincerely,

Andrew J. Mangione Jr.
Senior Vice President
