The Honorable Dave Taylor

Dear Congressman Taylor,
On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) – with over 2 million members nationwide, I write to express our strong support for the Veterans First Act of 2025.
For too long, Washington has prioritized wasteful international spending over the critical needs of our own citizens. Your legislation represents a long-overdue course correction. Redirecting $2 billion in USAID funds toward urgent repairs and renovations in State Veterans Homes is both fiscally responsible and morally right.
The more than 160 State Veterans Homes across the country provide essential care to nearly 20,000 aging veterans, many of whom rely on these facilities as their final place of care and community. Yet, countless projects remain stalled because of delays in federal matching funds. Your bill ensures these long-waiting, shovel-ready Priority 1 projects finally receive the funding they deserve.
This commonsense legislation reflects the values we hold dear: honoring our veterans, putting America first, and demanding accountability in how our tax dollars are spent. We are especially grateful that this bill recognizes what far too many in Washington have forgotten – that charity must begin at home, especially for those who have worn the uniform in defense of our freedoms.
Thank you for your leadership. AMAC Action stands ready to support your efforts to advance this legislation in the 119th Congress.
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Mangione Jr.
Senior Vice President
