The Honorable Gregory F. Murphy, M.D.
3rd Congressional District of North Carolina
407 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Murphy,

On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), with over 2 million members nationwide, we write to thank you for your leadership in advancing HR 1336, the Veterans National Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment Act, through the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

Your legislation represents a crucial step forward in addressing the invisible wounds of war – particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) – which continue to impact far too many of our returning heroes. As you have rightly noted, our nation is losing more than 17 veterans a day to suicide, and it is long past time we expanded access to proven, innovative treatments that can save lives.

The inclusion of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in a pilot program at the Department of Veterans Affairs is not only a forward-thinking solution but a desperately needed one. This therapy has shown significant promise in helping those suffering from PTSD and TBI, and your commitment to ensuring veterans can access this treatment at their VA facilities is commendable.

AMAC Action stands firmly with you in this effort. We believe that supporting those who wore the uniform is a moral obligation that transcends politics. Veterans have sacrificed so much for our freedoms, and they deserve every possible opportunity to heal and reclaim their lives.

We are grateful for your dedication to those who have served, and we look forward to working with you to advance this bill in the 119th Congress.

Sincerely,

Andrew J. Mangione Jr.
Senior Vice President
