Dear Congressman Hamadeh,
On behalf of AMAC Action, the advocacy affiliate for the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) – with over 2 million members nationwide, I write to express our enthusiastic support for your introduction of H.Con.Res.20, the Congressional Fitness Challenge.
As seniors who remember a time when fitness, discipline, and personal responsibility were woven into the fabric of our nation’s youth programs, we are thrilled to see this initiative aimed at reversing the alarming trends of childhood obesity and physical decline. Reviving physical excellence is not only a health issue – it’s a national security imperative, a cultural necessity, and a step toward restoring values that have made our country strong for generations.
With 77% of young Americans currently ineligible for military service due to health-related issues, the urgency of this effort cannot be overstated. Your plan to promote fitness through a voluntary, engaging, and goal-oriented challenge mirrors the spirit of the original Presidential Fitness programs many of our members proudly took part in during their youth.
We also commend the bipartisan spirit of your work and the involvement of NFL legend Brett Favre. This partnership sends a powerful message to young Americans: strength, discipline, and perseverance are values worth pursuing – on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
AMAC Action proudly supports this initiative and stands ready to help spread the message that America is at its best when we invest in the physical, mental, and moral strength of our next generation.
Thank you for your leadership and commitment to building a healthier, more resilient future for all Americans.
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Mangione Jr.
Senior Vice President
